This semiconductor sensor detects alcohol gas by measuring changes in the conductivity of its SnO₂ sensing material. The sensor’s conductivity increases as the alcohol concentration rises. MQ-3 is highly sensitive to alcohol and resistant to interference from gasoline, smoke, and other vapors. It is low-cost and suitable for vehicle alcohol detectors, portable breath analyzers, and other alcohol monitoring applications.
